Casa da Sé is a small luxury accommodation right in the historic heart of the secular city of Viseu. It´s kind of a museum, but to sleep. It´s distinguished by its refined decor allowing us to travel on time. The building results from the careful restoration of a XVIII century house. While you walk around the property you can feel and breathe the luxury and charm of past times.

Additionally, to the rooms, it also has a lounge on the last floor, and a shop with gourmet products, near the reception.

In case you fell in love with the chandeliers of your bedroom, the paintings, or even the bed, you can buy them and take a little of this luxury to your home. In your bedroom, you will find the price list of all the antiques and art pieces.

Rooms

There are 12 rooms. All appointed with illustrious names and all of them different.

We stayed in Viriato bedroom, tiny, but with lots of charm. In case you prefer a larger room, you can choose a suite. There are two, D. Duarte and Mirita Casimiro.

Despite all the building being wrapped in a charm of past centuries, it features the comfort and modernity of our times.

The room has air conditioning. This is an important information in case you are coming in the summer. I don´t know if it´s always very hot in Viseu, but we suffered a little with the high temperature during our stay in the city.

The bathroom is included in the room and is also decorated with good taste and sophistication.

Breakfast

It´s included in the room rate and is buffet – magic words for us. None of us really likes to get up early, but when it´s to have breakfast at a hotel we jump out of bed before the clock rings.

The breakfast offers various fruits and cereals. It also had several slices of different homemade and regional cakes. You can also choose from different types of bread, cheeses, ham and many jams. There is orange juice, as well as, other fruit juices, but they didn´t appear to be really natural juices.

Very importantly, they had Brie cheese – one of my favourites!
